Happy Father's Day

My Dad - My Hero

Wednesday, June 24, 2015
I once read a quote, "Every girl may not be a queen to her husband, but she will always be a princess to her father!". I absolutely loved it the moment I read it and I think it's very true. Dad is always your first hero, for whom you believe can do everything for you. Hitting the ground back to take revenge for your fall, getting that pink princess dress you saw in the shop for your birthday surprise, carrying you over your shoulder when you are too lazy to walk,  role-play being a donkey for your ride are just some of the examples from childhood where you found a hero in your dad.

I still remember a commercial on television during my childhood where a cute young girl says, "My Daddy Strongest!" I used to sing this throughout the day and my dad used to give me his warmest smile each time. I think he felt proud each time! :)  That reminds me my favourite childhood song was , "papa jaldi aa janaaaaaa..." It was customary to sing it each day in evening while waiting for my dad to return from his office. My dad always used to flaunt my achievements to all relatives and friends and that embarrassed me a lot, well none of that has changed in all these years. Initially it was me scoring highest marks in school, now it's one of my research papers - the bragging still continues. And I'll never admit it to him but it makes me a little proud. :)

I'm not a big fan of celebrating the days designated for people - the love always persists. However, these days give us a special chance to celebrate the love we have. In the busy life, we sometimes forget to tell people close to us how much we love them. So, this father's day I would love to tell my dad that I have always loved him and will always do so. He wants to get married soon but I don't know how will I ever live without my dad and mom ever! For every big and small thing you have ever done for me, I wanna give you a big hug 'cause no gift, however huge can ever repay whatever you have done for me, the love you have showered on me, the care you show everyday. It's gonna be real tough for The Guy to ever match the way you treat me - He might be my prince, but you'll always be my King papa!

MaxFreshMove Cocktail Party with Anushka Manchanda and Allu Arjun

Monday, June 15, 2015
It was my big bro's wedding week and functions were being organized everyday. The responsibility of the cocktail party lay on all of us cousins. Each one took up catering, arranging venue, flower decorations, parlour bookings, pick ups etc but I got the most difficult job - arranging for a DJ! I tried booking various DJs but due to many weddings in those days, no one was available. I was in deep trouble but couldn't accept the problem in front of my cousins for fear of embarrassment! My cousins were very sure I will not be able to handle the responsibility and look they are proving to be right! :'(

Finally while practicing for our performances on "Dance Basanti" for the ceremony (an integral part of the Punjabi cocktail party :P ), an idea struck me! Why don't I invite Anushka Manchanda, the singer of the song, to perform with us? She could sing and we could dance! OMG. That'll be awesome. Just a small problem - how to contact her and convince her to come at such a short notice!

I found her website and in the "contact" page, found her email id and left her a message explaining my problem along with a short rehearsal video of our to-be performance! To my surprise, there was a prompt reply to my email and the answer was YES! I was dancing like crazy n seeing the mail. I immediately mailed her all the details of venue, time and contact numbers. YAY!!!! Super excitement but I decided I have to keep it a surprise for everyone! :D

But greedy as I am, I thought it will be perfect if I could invite Allu Arjun, the famous Telugu actor who also happens to be a fabulous dancer, it will be a perfect combination of Anushka's rockstar voice and his rockstar dance moves! I repeated the same exercise of contacting Allu Arjun via his website, and to my surprise even he agreed to come for the cocktail party!

The party was obviously the most fabulous one and specially when I announced for Anushka and Arjun on the stage, the crowd just went crazy. I was on seventh heaven and the ninth cloud for my secret plan was turning out to be true. Everyone cheered, specially Bhaiya Bhabhi were extremely delighted. Anushka did sing the song for us to perform but the surprise was Anushka sung "Bezubaan kab tak main raha" from ABCD2 and Allu Arjun, who also has a cameo dance performance in the movie, performed like the most awesome dance I have ever seen! He flowed like water and his moves were really mind-blowing. The whole party was charged with energy with Allu Arjun's MaxFresh Moves and Anushka Manchanda's melodious voice on various blockbusters and that definitely made my life! :D *still dancing with joy* :P

Dil Dhadakne Do: Movie Review: another refreshing movie by Zoya Akhtar

Monday, June 8, 2015

After watching too many hyped movies for so long, I finally found a movie which I really liked- Dil Dhadakne Do - another refreshing movie by Zoya Akhtar! I know everyone found Piku hilarious, but I am sorry I didn't. Everyone loved it because Amitabh Bachchan acted so brilliantly, I hated it because he acted so brilliantly. He was so perfect that I could believe he is an old irritating selfish creature and that made me loathe him. So I pitied Deepika Padukone's character but didn't find anything funny. The only funny part in the movie was of Irrfan Khan! Moving on to another hyped movie of the year - Tanu weds Manu Returns. A crazy wannabe rebel who does exactly opposite of what she's told to do, leaves one guy for another guy and leaves him for the first guy! That pretty much summarizes Part 1 and Part 2. Her acting was nice, she portrayed a Kanpur girl and a Haryanvi girl at the same time and both were believable but that doesn't make the movie interesting! The nice part in movie: the songs like Move on, Ghani bawri, banno tera swaggggerrrrrrrr!

Dil Dhadakne Do: The Review
So while I was sick and tired of watching the movies everyone described as "awesome, class act, fadu" and when I didn't like them, I was being described as having "no taste". Finally, Zoya Akhtar knew what I really needed to watch. Another refreshing film after Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, it portrays the problems of high class society, the rich and wealthy people! I will not disclose the story but I will tell you what I loved about the movie. Firstly, it was not a coming-of-age romantic film where the guy and girl are supposed to end up together. It was about a family and a really rich one- with real problems, real difference of opinions! Secondly, it's not a travelogue as some people described ZNMD as well. Zoya shows places so well without overshadowing the story and so she should. A fresh take in the movie is by Pluto, the dog, whose voice is given by Aamir Khan. The whole movie is about Pluto's family so he narrates the story comically.

The movie has Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra in lead roles and they are not in love- Thank Heavens! By the way, after a really long time, I fell in love with Priyanka's performance and her persona. There is a song sequence with Anushka as main leads and Priyanka joins for ten seconds but she steals the show! Ranveer Singh has yet again proved his mettle. I think he's just one step away from entering my precious list of favourite actors. Anil Kapoor. for a change, is seen flaunting gray hair which must have been really tough for him, knowing he considers himself so young even now! Anushka Sharma and Farhan Akhtar have very limited screen time but their performance is notable. And no, the movie does not end with a definitive end, it ends with many possibilities - like ZNMD. I like such movies which are different, not predictable, and are light. This movie also highlights sensitive issue like inequality of women in a different light.
P.S.- Don't go to watch this movie if you want to see serious cinema. This is a light comedy film with a difference!  :P

My Rating: 4 stars out of 5.
My favourite Character: Pluto
My favourite Song: Galla Goodiyaaa
My favourite scene: when Ranveer says "that's a butter knife!" (To appreciate the scene, please go watch the movie!)

Enjoy the movie guys, karlo galla gooooodiyaaaaa!
